Located in Turkmenistan, the Door to Hell is a natural gas fire. The mesmerizing hole in the middle of nowhere has been burning continuously since 1971 when it was set alight by Soviet engineers. They expected it would take a couple of weeks to burn off and over four decades later they are still waiting. If this natural fire pit wasn’t freaky enough, it is also known to attract large spiders.
