A destination popular since the 1960s, the Pacific coast town of Puerto Vallarta is celebrating a record number of visitors in 2015.
After the downturn in 2008 and 2009, the city has been announcing new projects and adding a variety of new offerings for visitors, including the new sail pier opened in 2014, a popular spot for visitors.
With a new port in development, a new shopping mall and increasing flights from Canada and the U.S., Puerto Vallarta’s hotels have also been renovating and updating. Well-known properties like Hilton Puerto Vallarta, Costa Sur Resort & Spa and Sheraton Buganvilias have renovated rooms and added new amenities in the past year.
The city has also been welcoming several new hotels in the past year. Here’s a look at five new properties:
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta opened a year ago, the first of four Ziva hotels. Located on a secluded beach in south Puerto Vallarta, the all-inclusive family property features 300+ rooms and suites, six dining options, a la carte food vendors, six bars (including the spacious Tequila Sports Bar), multiple pools including an adults-only pool and the largest spa in Puerto Vallarta. The property recently updated décor in its club rooms.
