While on board, the ship docked at Edfu and Kom Ombo to visit the ancient sites and then continued heading south to the city of Aswan, well-known for its dam as well as its Temple of Philae and being within the former area of Nubia. At every site, tour director Mohamed Ragheb explained its significance and the time period of Egyptian history.

A signature experience of Insight Vacations is afternoon tea at The Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, which was where British author Agatha Christie stayed while in Egypt and inspired her novel, Death on the Nile.

An optional excursion is flying from Aswan to Abu Simbil, to tour the two temples built by Ramsses, one to worship him and one in homage to his love, Nefertari, before returning to Cairo.
