Next up: the Valley of the Kings, chosen by pharaoh architects because of its isolation to prevent graverobbing. For over 500 years between 16th and 11th century BC, pharaohs and nobles were buried here and in 2014, visitors are welcomed to enter some of the tombs, but photos are not permitted.
A highlight after the Valley of the Kings is the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, a symmetrical temple built in homage to the god Amon-Ra and is considered the first example of classical design of ancient Egypt.
