Club Med to cover COVID-19 medical expenses

TORONTO — Club Med is going above and beyond to accommodate guests by offering new COVID-19 medical coverage.

The brand has expanded its Emergency Assistance Program around the world to include COVID-19 coverage for all trips through April 30, 2021 to any of its resorts worldwide. This extension to cover COVID-19 medical expenses is applicable for both individual and groups bookings and will be offered without any additional cost to all clients.

Underwritten through Europ Assistance, the assistance program provides coverage for emergency medical expenses, including those related to COVID-19:

  • Medical expenses abroad (up to €75,000 including tax/person)
  • Advance on hospitalization costs incurred abroad (up to €75,000 including tax per beneficiary)
  • The cost of an extended stay at the resort, if required by local health authorities
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation following accident and/or illness

The expanded coverage is in addition to Club Med’s flexible cancellation policy, ‘Safe Together’, which includes enhanced hygiene and safety measures at its resorts.

The addition of these new measures, says the brand, will allow Canadians to plan their next vacation with peace of mind, starting this fall. Club Med Turkoise will reopen on Sept. 5, while Cancún Yucatan, Punta Cana and Caravelle will reopen Oct. 17. Sandpiper Bay reopened its doors on June 12. Other Caribbean resorts will reopen in December 2020.
