TORONTO — A new video series has been launched by Travelweek to unite the travel industry during these unprecedented times.
Launched under the banner #OneTravelIndustry, the series’ purpose is three-fold: to keep travel agents informed with the most up-to-date industry news; to provide valued travel partners with a platform to reach agents directly; and to build a sense of community at a time when many are left struggling with the challenges posed by the current COVID-19 pandemic.
“The coronavirus crisis is affecting our beloved travel industry both here at home and globally, and it is now more important than ever to stick together and support each other,” says Devin Kinasz, Publisher of Travelweek. “We continue to work around the clock in our newsroom to get Canadian travel agents the information they need. We are also working with our long-time supplier partners to get their messages out quickly and effectively. And we can’t wait to help everyone, retailers and suppliers, prepare for the great moment when flights are operating transborder and internationally again!”
The first video in the series comes courtesy of Air Canada Vacations and features Managing Director Nino Montagnese, who highlights the ways agents can stay informed and how the entire industry has “banded together” to ensure customers are supported.
“Our industry has dealt with many challenges over the years, however we have proven time and time again how resilient we are,” he tells Travelweek. “They say tough times don’t last, but tough people do. This couldn’t be more true for travel agents and travel industry professionals. We know that we’ll bounce back better than ever, and we hope to see you all very soon!”
The video series will be viewable on Travelweek’s Facebook page, Travelweek’s YouTube channel, and on its newly revamped Facebook Group. Previously known as ‘For Agent Eyes Only,’ the ‘Official Group for Travel Agents in Canada’ provides Canadian travel advisors with a private space where they can share valuable tips and concerns and learn about best practices. Available only to Canadian agents, the closed group will be updated daily with the latest industry news.
“We know how hard agents have been working to navigate through this difficult time and to reassure and rebook clients as quickly as possible,” adds Kinasz. “We want them to know that they’re not alone in this. Through our new video series and our updated Facebook group, they can hopefully find comfort in knowing that we’re all #OneTravelIndustry.”
