NASSAU — The Caribbean Hotel & Tourist Association (CHTA) kicked off its 2020 Caribbean Travel Marketplace at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center yesterday with opening ceremonies featuring a keynote address by The Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
The 2020 edition of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace takes place this week, Jan. 21 – 23, in collaboration with local partners Baha Mar, The Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation and the Nassau, Paradise Island Promotion Board.
After two full days of business appointments, the event wraps up Thursday night with a Junkanoo Party at Baha Bay Beach Club.
CTM is the region’s largest and longest-standing tourism marketing event, and in the weeks leading up to the event there were close to 500 supplier delegates registered, from more than 170 supplier companies.
More than 80 buyer companies were registered for meetings, including reps from Canada, Australia, The Bahamas, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the UK, the U.S. and more.
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association which has been in operation for 55 years supporting over 1,000 hotel and allied members and 33 national hotel associations.
Showing off new and refreshed product at this year’s event are The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, the D.R., Grenada and Jamaica, among others.
