TORONTO — Nothing stops traffic like a bear on the road. But what if that bear is engaged in an epic fist fight with another bear?
You either run for the hills or bust out the camera. Thankfully, for all of us sitting safely at home, Facebook user Cari McGillivray chose to do the latter after seeing two bears fighting in the middle of the Stewart Cassiar Highway in northern B.C.
He had the good sense to videotape the encounter and later posted the videotape on Facebook. He wrote: “Don’t normally post on here but thought I’d share this incredibly rare and amazing moment with all you guys of these grizzlies fighting!”
The bears are first seen on the video roaring at each other in a ditch by the side of the road. Before long, the fight escalates with them standing on their hind legs and walking onto the middle of the highway.
In a scene straight out of ‘Fight Club’, major shoving ensues, followed by some wrestling and even a few good ol’ fashioned punches. One bear manages to push the other back into the ditch before the fight ends altogether with one bear running away.
But perhaps the most incredible part of the entire video is the lone wolf in the background watching the scene with interest.
How wild is the Canadian wild?!
McGillivray, responding to a commenter, referred to the wildlife encounter as one of his favourite of all time. We would agree, and we weren’t even there!
