PLANTATION, FL — Calling all beer lovers! Virgin needs your help to name its new signature craft beer, set to debut on the Scarlet Lady in April 2020.
Described as an English Pale Ale with a hint of red, the beer will be sold throughout the ship and featured in its onboard tap room, the Draught Haus. Launched in partnership with Miami’s own Wynwood Brewing Company, the EPA took over a year in the making, using American malts and hops in Miami as well as English yeast in honour of Virgin’s British roots.
Now the cruise line is calling upon its Sailors to come up with a name for the beer. The flavour profile is as follows:
“Featuring a malty body like a traditional EPA, but slightly more bitter and hoppy, with hints of grapes and fruit on the nose with toffee and caramel in the background, the new brew is a drinker’s beer with the approachability in its taste for the novice. The ale is finished with a little touch of roasted malt that gives it its signature red tint.”
Sailors can submit their name suggestions by commenting on Virgin Voyages’ Instagram post (@VirginVoyages) featuring the can. Early suggestions include ‘Decked out’, ‘Scarlet Fever’, ‘Bloody Dagger Ale’, and our personal favourite, ‘Non-Virgin’, submitted by @annesedanielle.
Located on Deck 7, the Draught Haus will be the perfect casual meet-up spot on the ship to grab some beer with friends. It will offer eight beers on tap, a wide range of bottled artisanal beers, shots, shot-cocktails and boilermakers, and will be located next to the Voyage Vinyl record shop and DJ booth. The bar will also offer a growler service so that guests can enjoy curated craft beers in any of the ship’s public spaces or in the comfort of their cabin.
