TORONTO — Despite Jennifer Lopez’s claims that ‘Love Don’t Cost A Thing’, at Toronto’s new love hotel, the going rate for amore has been set at $90 an hour.
Opening earlier this year in downtown Toronto, the Tokyo Love Hotel is Canada’s first-ever Japanese-style love hotel that rents out rooms by the hour for “resting”.
There are three categories of ‘Fantasy Rooms’ where couples are free to engage in a variety of ‘restful’ activities. A variety of themed rooms come complete with “sweet treats and adult goodies,” says the hotel, as well as fully mirrored walls, an ensuite bathroom “stocked with towels”, and access to Netflix in the event couples want to chill in between all that resting.
Frisky guests can choose the Blue Room, the only room category that comes with a waterbed, or the White Room, designed to look like you’re floating among the clouds. And then there’s the Red Room, which “ripens those who will express passion” by way of a few leather accessories and something called a Liberator sex chair (Google it, we sure did).
To protect guests’ identities, all transactions made at Tokyo Love Hotel are done online. Guests can also stay incognito with the hotel’s self-check-in and check-out system, room keys that are accessed via their smartphones, and in-room iPads that are used to communicate with staff.
And if that weren’t enough to get guests in the mood, the hotel is offering a slew of grand opening offers that include double the length of stay – free – when booking a short-term stay, a special introductory rate for overnight stays, and a free visit to a third Fantasy Room for those who book two Fantasy Rooms.
A ‘Rest’ for 1 hour plus 1hour free is priced at $90, ‘Play’ for 2 hours plus 2 hours free costs $180, while an overnight stay will set couples back $300. There are also two packages – ‘Experience Everything ($600) and ‘Explore Everything’ ($220) – that allow couples to enjoy all three Fantasy Rooms over a seven-day period.
And for those of you concerned about cleanliness, have no fear – Tokyo Love Hotel has a professionally trained housekeeping team that “thoroughly and meticulously cleans and sanitizes” each of its Fantasy Rooms.
Whew.
