MONTREAL — Following Canada Jetlines’ announcement to make Saint-Hubert airport its Montreal base, the ULCC has now confirmed that it will fly to several North American destinations from the low-cost airport.

Direct flights will be available from Aéroport Montréal Saint-Hubert Longueuil (YHU) to Quebec, Florida and New York. Jetlines’ CEO, Javier Suarez, who said that the airline is “thrilled” to announce future routes, is anticipating an increase in travellers flying to Montreal as a result.

“Our low fares should encourage people from Montreal and the surrounding areas to travel more often,” he said. “Driven by these low fares, Montreal should experience an increase in the number of tourists and visitors it receives. Our relationship with the airport is important for us to be able to extend Jetlines’ reach in Eastern Canada, and we are pleased to have them as a partner.”

YHU is currently being expanded as part of a plan to position itself as a low-cost airport that serves the Montérégie region of Quebec and Montreal. Located closer to Montreal’s business and leisure core than Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, YHU is expected to be able to support ULCC airlines like Jetlines as early as the end of 2020.

Canada Jetlines is expected to launch in summer 2019.
