JOHN’S — Just two weeks after unveiling its new Maple Leaf Lounge at LaGuardia Airport, Air Canada has cut the ribbon on yet another lounge, this one at St. John’s International Airport (YYT).

Opening today, Dec. 19, the facility is located in YYT’s recently expanded departures area of the terminal building, and features panoramic views of iconic Signal Hill. Replacing the previous St. John’s airport lounge, the new contemporary space offers 77% more room, 46 additional seats, a business centre, self-serve bar (including Canadian wines and Lavazza specialty coffees) and light snacks. Guests can also make use of complimentary Wi-Fi and access to more than 7,000 digital newspaper and magazine content via the PressReader app.

On the look and feel of the new lounge, Andrew Yiu, Vice President, Product at Air Canada, said: “This unique space has been created to enhance the overall travel experience of our premium customers. Showcasing contemporary design and artwork, the lounge features maple wood screen walls, Canadian-made furnishings and we are also proud to host local art and crafts that reflect the charm of Newfoundland and Labrador’s landscape and people.”

The Maple Leaf Lounge is the only lounge available to travellers departing from YYT and has the capacity for up to 84 customers.

With this new opening, Air Canada now offers eligible customers access to 23 Maple Leaf Lounges worldwide, including 17 at Canadian airports.
