TORONTO — If your clients are looking to travel on a budget, you might want to suggest they take the bus to the following airports.

MyVoucherCodes, a U.K.-based online voucher code company, looked into how much it would cost travellers to park their cars for one week at the world’s 100 busiest airports (without prior booking), and found that three of the top five most expensive car parks were found in the U.K.

Not surprisingly, Heathrow Airport in London was the priciest place to park, with a one-week rate of £187.50 (approximately Can$314.70).

Rounding out the top five are: Abu Dhabi International Airport (£176.40, or Can$296.10); London Stansted Airport (£164.50, or Can$276.12); Zürich Airport (£162.64, or Can$273); and London Gatwick Airport (£145, or Can$243.411).

Overall, the average cost for a week’s parking came out at £72.80, or Can$122.20.

Alternatively, the world’s cheapest airports to park your car are largely located in Asia. Coming in at #1 was Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, which costs a measly £22.54 (Can$37.83) to park for one week.

The #2-#5 cheapest airport car parks are as follows: Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in Chongqing, China (£23.10, or Can$38.77); Düsseldorf Airport in Düsseldorf, Germany (£25.52, or Can$42.83); Wuhan Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, China (£26.95, or Can$45.23); and São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil (£28, or Can$46.99).
