KITCHENER, ON — ‘Unwrapping Egypt’, an exhibition featuring replica artifacts of ancient Egyptian culture and focusing on the world-famous tomb of King Tutankhamun, was opened yesterday by the Ambassador of Egypt to Canada, Wael Aboulmagd.

The exhibition runs until January.

The Mayor of Waterloo, Brenda Halloran, David Marskell, Chairman of THEMUSEUM, a number of politicians and members of parliament of Ontario, members of the Board of Trustees of THEMUSEUM, a number of public figures as well as members of the travel industry and members of the Canadian media participated in the opening ceremonies.

Ambassador Aboulmagd said that an event of such magnitude is a good opportunity to review and to discuss the situation in Egypt and to answer any questions regarding stability and improvement that will help in the return of tourists to their previous rates.

Mostafa Sallam, Director, Egyptian Tourist Authority in Canada, said that he seized this occasion to highlight one of the most important Egyptian tourist attractions – the Pharaonic civilization – sought after by Canadians.

Sallam said that this event is part of a series of several promotional activities which will be organized in a number of Canadian cities in order to encourage and revive the tourist influx from the Canadian market which is one of the most promising markets. In 2010 more than 96,000 Canadian tourists travelled to Egypt.
