TORONTO — Allianz Global Assistance Canada has unveiled a new app that makes travel emergencies more manageable and less of a headache.
Called TripWise, the free app is compatible with both iOS and Android and provides four main services:
- GPS Hospital Search: The app links travellers to 2,000 Allianz-reviewed hospitals in 129 countries
- Medication Dictionary & Key First Aid Terms: Available in over 15 languages, the dictionary allows users to find international names for common prescription medications (from Advil to Viagra), while the first aid lookup provides instant translations for common terms like ‘ambulance’, ‘fever’ and ‘pharmacy’.
- Travel Advisories: The app also provides easy access to Government of Canada’s security info and travel advisories for more than 195 destinations, plus the country’s local emergency services numbers
- Flight Tracker: Users can take advantage of flight tracker status updates and receive gate information by entering either their flight number or using the search function
“Having this kind of vital information handy when a travel emergency occurs is not only a valuable aid that can save time, it can also reduce the anxiety from being in an unfamiliar place,” says Dan Keon, Senior Director of Market Management, Allianz Global Assistance Canada. “TripWise is also a great complement to travel insurance – which the Government of Canada recommends Canadians should have in place before leaving the country – as users can personalize the app by entering the 24/7 emergency assistance phone numbers located in their travel insurance documents or wallet card for one-touch for one-touch dialing from anywhere in the world.”
