HONG KONG — How much do you love your coffee? Enough to fork over some serious cash for just one cup?

According to the South China Morning Post, the world’s most expensive coffee is now available in Hong Kong – but only for a limited time. From now until March 2018, The Coffee Academics is offering a limited number of hand-brewed cups of coffee each day, made from high-quality Panama Geisha coffee beans that are cultivated at 1,800 metres above sea level.

These beans have been the talk of the town among coffee lovers after scoring 94.1 points out of 100 at the Best of Panama blind tasting competition. Once the scores were in, a 100-pound lot from Hacienda La Esmeralda – a family-owned specialty coffee producer in western Panama – was sold at the Best of Panama coffee auction for a record-breaking US$601 per pound.

So how much does one cup cost? A whopping HK$400, or approximately Can$64.

But don’t worry, you’ll get your money’s worth – one cup of coffee also includes a snack and a photo certificate.

If you want to be among the lucky few to try this brewed elixir, you may have to pray to the coffee Gods for a sip. The Coffee Academics will only be handing out five cups of hand-brewed coffee each day at four of its branches in Hong Kong: Causeway Bay, Johnston Road, Taikoo Shing and Roastery Lab.
