SOFIA — Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism is proving that small gestures can go a long way in making a lasting impression.

According to Novinite.com, Nikolina Angelkova announced on Sept. 3 that the Ministry of Tourism will be personally thanking international visitors with greeting cards. Exactly how many, you ask? Over 400,000.

The tourists receiving cards will be randomly selected. Cards will be sent in the coming days until the end of the summer holidays season.

Cards will include a postage stamp dedicated to the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, as well as frescoes from Rila Monastery and the Thracian Kazanlak tomb. A special message signed personally by Angelkova will also be included: “Thank you for choosing Bulgaria!”

From January-July 2017, nearly 5 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria, a 7.2% increase compared to the same period in 2016. This confirms the Ministry of Tourism’s prediction of a 7-10% increase for the sector.
