Record growth continues at YUL, with five new destinations this summer

Two new routes out of YUL with launch of Tel Aviv, Washington Dulles flights

MONTREAL — More flights mean more options for passengers flying out of Montreal and surrounding areas, with both Air Canada and Air Transat launching two new routes in as many days.

Air Transat celebrated the start of its new direct twice-weekly Montreal-Tel Aviv flight yesterday during an event held at the official residence of Canada’s ambassador to Israel.

Also available from Toronto with a connection in Montreal, the new flight is on A330-200 aircraft with 332 seats.

All Economy Class passengers travelling with Air Transat to or from Tel Aviv are allowed one piece of checked baggage of 30 kg and a carry-on of 10 kg. In addition, to meet certain dietary preferences and restrictions, Air Transat offers all passengers the option to pre-order special meals, such as glatt kosher meals, up to 72 hours before departure.

Meanwhile Air Canada has launched its daily Montreal-Washington Dulles (IAD) flights. Today’s departure of flight AC8172 marks the return of daily year-round service between Montreal and IAD, offering more choice for customers travelling between Montreal and the Washington, D.C., Metro area.

“We are happy to once again operate Montreal-Washington Dulles (IAD) flights that complement our existing twice daily flights to Washington National Airport and strengthen our market presence in the Washington, D.C., Metro area,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines, at Air Canada. “We continue to strategically grow our transborder network with the recently launched Montreal-Dallas service and added flights to New York, San Francisco and Houston. The transborder capacity increase this summer underscores our commitment to expand our global reach from Montreal-Trudeau reinforcing it as a hub that offers convenient connections from points throughout Quebec and Eastern Canada and to Air Canada’s extensive international network including Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt and Casablanca. And our expansion continues next year as we have already announced new 2018 Montreal-Phoenix seasonal service providing even more choice for our customers in Quebec looking to escape Canadian winters.”

The daily nonstop Air Canada Express service will be operated with 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-100 aircraft.
