Canadian residents made 3.5 million trips to the U.S., down 1.0% from January, but still up 7.2% compared with February 2016.

Fewer Canadians took car trips to the U.S., in both same-day car trips (down 0.8% to 1.8 million) and overnight car trips (down 1.1% to 921,000). Overnight travel to the U.S. by plane was also down in February, declining 2.1% from the previous month but up 6.3% from the same month last year.

The number of trips by Canadian residents to overseas destinations has been on an upward trend since August. 2016.
