With a 3.5% increase from 2015, Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. welcomed a record 11,050,911 passengers in 2016, recently released in the carrier’s system-wide traffic statistics for the month, quarter and full year ending in December.

Marking the 12th consecutive year of growth, Hawaiian Airlines continues to expand its network and fleet to provide travellers with more options to fly to and within the Hawaiian Islands.

Recent additions to the Hawaiian service includes daily nonstop service between Narita and Honolulu international airports and triweekly service between Haneda and Kona international airports.

Hawaiian’s fleet includes the recent addition of a A330-200 aircraft, bringing its A330 fleet to 23. The airline took delivery of two Boeing B717-200s in late 2016 for a total of 20 aircrafts of that type. The company also operates eight Boeing 767s on transpacific routes and three turboprop ATR-42 through its interisland subsidiary, ‘Ohana by Hawaiian.

Travellers can enjoy new inflight amenities including the debut of a Premium Cabin featuring lie-flat seat, additional Extra Comfort seating and a first-class auction to upgrade called Bid UP.

The company expects to recognize a US$5 million non-cash loss in non-operating expenses from the conversion of its foreign currency denominated bank accounts as well as retire early its fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft by the end of 2018, resulting in a non-cash impairment charge of approximately $45 – $50 million. In addition, the company completed an agreement with a third-party maintenance vendor for its Boeing 767 aircraft and expects to record an additional financial charge of approximately $21 million.
