TORONTO — Lufthansa has expanded its long-haul services from Montreal to include its Frankfurt hub.
The new service connects travellers from Quebec’s most-populated city directly to Frankfurt, the largest financial centre in continental Europe, during the busy summer travel season, running from May 16 to Oct. 12. The nonstop flights will operate five times a week, from Tuesdays to Fridays, as well as on Sundays, using an Airbus A340-300 and A330-300 aircraft in a Business and Economy Class configuration.
“Lufthansa is very pleased to offer Quebec travellers access to a second destination in Europe, offering them increased access to more than 450 destinations in 116 countries,” Hans DeHaan, Director, Lufthansa Group Canada said. “This reflects Lufthansa’s commitment to the Canadian market and the high level of demand we are seeing here.”
Lufthansa already operates daily nonstop flights between Munich and Montreal. As well, partner airline, SWISS, offers six services a week to its hub in Zurich.
Whether Montreal travellers are looking for fast, easy connections or stopping over for business or leisure, Frankfurt has much to offer. It is the most international city in Germany and the largest financial centre on the continent. It is the city of coronations of emperors and offers many local attractions for tourists boasting over 13 different museums devoted to the arts. The Lufthansa Global Hub in Frankfurt offers a broad range of connectivity options for travel to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and Russia.
In addition to this new service, Lufthansa will also be launching a new route from Toronto to Munich, set to depart on June 5.
Flight LH 479 will depart Montreal at 5:15 p.m. and arrive in Frankfurt the next morning at 6:30 a.m. The return flight LH 478 is scheduled to depart from Frankfurt in the early afternoon (1.35 p.m.) and reach Montreal at 3:40 p.m. local time. This will enable passengers travelling through Montreal to connect to the network of Lufthansa’s Star Alliance partner, Air Canada.
