NEW YORK CITY — Luxury cruising is coming to the shores of New York City, courtesy of Oceania Cruises. The luxury cruise line has just announced that it will be homeporting at the West Side cruise terminal in Manhattan, becoming the only upscale cruise line to homeport in the Big Apple. From here, it will sail over 20 planned voyages beginning in 2017.
The intimate and ultra-luxe Insignia will offer an array of roundtrip and open-jaw voyages from New York City to New England, Canada, Bermuda and even Greenland and Iceland. This ship, said Bob Binder, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises, “offers an acclaimed culinary experience that rivals the best restaurants ashore as well as an irresistible blend of culturally rich and fascinating destinations.”
The cruise line has included a roster of overnight port calls in New York City, New York; Charleston, South Carolina; Reykjavik, Iceland; St. George, Bermuda; and Hamilton, Bermuda.
2017 voyages include:
- Cottages, Coves & Coasts: 10 days, departing Aug. 10, 31 and Sept. 10, visits New York, Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, St. George
- Seaside Medley: 11 days, departing Aug. 20, visits New York, Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Hamilton (Bermuda), St. George
- Capitals & Coastlines: 10 days, Sept. 20, 30 and Oct. 10, 20, visits New York, Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, Saint John (New Brunswick), Halifax, Sydney (Nova Scotia), Saguenay (Quebec), Quebec City, Montreal
- North Atlantic Seafarer: 15 days, departing July 26, visits Reykjavik, Isafjordur (Iceland), Prince Christian Sound (Greenland), Qaqortoq (Greenland), Paamiut (Greenland); Nuuk (Greenland), Sydney (Nova Scotia), Halifax, Boston, New York
