TORONTO — Avalon Waterways has appointed two travel industry veterans to its leadership ranks as managing director Patrick Clark shifts into retirement towards the end of 2017.
Pam Hoffee will lead the worldwide operations of Avalon Waterways as chief product and operations officer for the Globus family of brands. Joining her is Terri Burke, who will drive Avalon Waterways’ global sales, marketing and promotional efforts as managing director.
“The stage is perfectly set for Pam and Terri to ignite future growth and innovation for Avalon Waterways,” said Scott Nisbet, president and chief executive officer for the Globus family of brands. “Patrick’s work for Avalon Waterways – and the travel industry as a whole – has been immeasurable. Over the past decade, he has not only built the brand into one of the best river cruise companies in the world by commandeering our hugely popular Suite Ships, unveiling the new Avalon Fresh program and innovating excursions with active itineraries as well as the Avalon Choice program, he has helped evolve the river cruise category to make it one of the top-selling travel styles today. Patrick is both admired and respected among travel industry peers. We are immensely grateful for all he has done and are excited about what the future holds for this brand.”
Since 2004, Hoffee has guided product and operations for the Globus family of brands’ North America and exotic (non-Europe) products. Her experience with Avalon Waterways includes overseeing the Southeast Asia operations of the company’s new Suite Ships and itineraries on the Mekong and Irrawaddy Rivers. In her new role, she will be adding Avalon’s worldwide operations to her list of responsibilities.
Terri Burke formerly led the Globus family of brands’ key retail partnerships alongside Paula Hayes. As the director of national accounts, she activated the Avalon Waterways Specialist Program, inspiring travel agents to better understand and sell Avalon’s river cruises.
Hoffee and Burke will transition into their new roles in 2017.
