TORONTO — Delta Air Lines will be discontinuing its Regina to Minneapolis daily routes, but adding a daily year-round flight to Salt Lake City from Toronto’s Pearson airport, allowing customers to access nearly 50 destinations from the hub.

Delta confirmed what it is calling an “indefinite suspension” of service. As of August 1st there will be no more Delta flights from Regina International Airport directly to the U.S. The low Canadian dollar and economic weakness in the region were factors in the decision, with recent declines in passenger loads.

Passengers will still be able to fly from Saskatoon to Minneapolis this summer.

This is not the first time Delta flights have been discontinued out of Saskatchewan, with both Denver and Chicago services cancelled in the past.

From Toronto, Delta Air Lines will launch daily year-round flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and its hub at Salt Lake City International Airport on May 27, 2016. The flights will be operated using a 132-seat Airbus A319 aircraft, which features 12 First Class seats and 18 Delta Comfort+ seats.

“Service to Salt Lake City gives Toronto customers one-stop access to nearly 50 destinations throughout the U.S. from our Mountain West hub, including many destinations favored by Canadians like Palm Springs, Colorado Springs, and Phoenix,” said Steven Larkin, Delta’s Director of Sales – Canada. “Customers will now have direct service to six Delta hubs from Toronto, with the new service providing connectivity to 22 unique destinations served only from Salt Lake City.”

Delta’s Toronto to Salt Lake City service will operate as follows:

Departure: Toronto at 4:15 p.m.

Arrival: Salt Lake City at 6:27 p.m.

Departure: Salt Lake City at 9:45 a.m.

Arrival: Toronto at 3:27 p.m.
