TORONTO — The new ‘Dollar for Dollar’ savings promotion for Canadian travellers visiting Myrtle Beach is set to launch Jan. 1.
The deal offers savings worth up to 60% off at local hotels and up to 30% off restaurants, live entertainment and attractions.
Dollar for Dollar is tied in to Myrtle Beach’s Can-Am Days festival, marking its 55th year in 2016. The festival is scheduled for March 12 – 20 and Dollar for Dollar runs Jan. 1 – April 30.
Meanwhile the MBA Specialist Program expires Dec. 31. Register now at Travelweek’s Learning Centre and complete the online educational course to be eligible to win a Visa gift card. The winning entry will be drawn in early January.

Tour operators and wholesalers offering accommodation and golf packages in the Myrtle Beach area include Alio, Holiday House by TravelBrands, Huntington Travel/MyEscapades, Porter Escapes, Royal Scenic, Simply Escape, WestJet Vacations, Merit Golf Vacations, Golf Resort World, Golf the World Vacations and Gryphon Golf Vacations.
The Myrtle Beach area’s first indoor trampoline park is scheduled to open in February featuring 20,000 square feet of bouncy canvas designed to host numerous sports and fitness activities.
In hotel news, Homewood Suites Oceanfront Resort & Conference Center has broken ground in Myrtle Beach featuring 100 suites with a mix of two bedroom, one bedroom and studios. It’s the first Homewood Suites in the chain that is an oceanfront property and it’s scheduled to open in spring 2016.
Myrtle Beach Seaside Resorts is updating multiple properties including the Avista Resort and the Seaside Resort both in North Myrtle Beach, and the Grande Shores Ocean Resort in Myrtle Beach.
And the Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach began a property-wide renovation project in September, transforming the 452 guest rooms and public areas, adding a new front lobby, oceanview restaurant, lobby bar and outdoor entertainment courtyard. The hotel is to be rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton upon completion in early 2017.
