TORONTO — Officially launching its four new Mexico itineraries at an industry event last night, Goway says it intends to focus on the culinary, cultural and colonial side of the destination, exploring all the historical gems left behind by the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans.
The company says it aims to provide tours focused on “travel and experience, rather than a simple getaway or vacation.”
“Like all of our product, this is very much on the cultural, authentic and different side. Yes, we have beach resorts on our books, but that is not the focus of our itineraries. It will be a cultural and colonial trip, with the option to add two to three nights at the beach on the coast,” said Dan Forster, Product Manager Latin America, Goway. “We are not claiming to be competitive with the all-inclusives. Our product is different.”
Goway’s four new tour itineraries on offer are the 3-day Mexico Stopover, 6-day Mayan Mexico, 8-day Colonial Mexico and 3-day Discover the Yucatan (click on links, or see below).
“We are promoting Mexican culture and gastronomy, and the other sides of Mexico, more than the sun and beach most Canadians know,” said Susana Moreno, project coordinator & tourism development, Mexico Tourism Board. “Mexico is culturally rich, with the Hispanics mixing with ancient local cultures, giving birth to very special architecture and very unique gastronomy.”
Mexico is also an attractive destination for Canadians because of the shorter flight times, similar time zones, no visa entry requirements, the prevalence of English spoken everywhere and the quality of the tourism infrastructure, she added.
