Frozen Ever After to debut at Epcot early next year

TORONTO – It seems that movie fans both young and old aren’t ready to “let it go” quite yet. Epcot’s highly anticipated Frozen Ever After water ride will be making its debut in early 2016, transporting fans of the hit animated film to the magical kingdom of Arendelle.

The boat ride is one of several new attractions planned by Disney based on the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and will be located in the Norway pavilion of Epcot theme park. Replacing the 1988 Maelstrom log ride, Frozen Ever After will feature animatronic characters recreating movie scenes to an audio soundtrack.

The journey begins right from the get-go while waiting in line, when riders wander past Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post. Once they board the ride, they’ll spot Sven the reindeer setting up for the Winter in Summer festival, float past Olaf the Snowman and come face to face with the giant evil snowman Marshmallow. Of course, the highlight of the ride will be a visit to Elsa’s grand palace, where guests will be treated to a rendition of ‘Let It Go’ and an exciting fireworks finale.

Epcot’s Norway pavilion will also feature a Royal Sommerhus based on a historic Norwegian log cabin. It’s here where Elsa and Anna will greet visitors and pose for photos.

Since the film’s record-breaking stint at the box office in 2013, Disney has introduced a number of Frozen-themed offerings around the world. These include character meet-and-greets, ice-skating rinks, live shows, festivals and movie screenings. A ‘Frozen’ musical is being planned for Disney California Adventure in 2016, while an Arendelle-themed landscape is slated for completion at Tokyo DisneySea by 2018.
