TORONTO — Big things are in store for Meliá Hotels International, which recently hosted an industry luncheon in Toronto to share the latest company offerings.
With 353 hotels worldwide (155 in Spain alone) across several brands, Meliá is considered the largest hotel group in Spain and Europe’s third largest, says Rodolfo Cresta, Director of Leisure Sales North Americas. And the company shows no signs of slowing down, with four more properties set to debut in the coming months.
Opening this December just in time for the holiday season is the all-inclusive Meliá Braco Village in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The former Superclubs property will add 235 rooms to Jamaica’s shores and, like all hotels under the upscale Meliá brand, will feature The Level, the company’s boutique hotel within a resort concept. The Level offers private check-in and personalized butler service, a great opportunity for travel agents to upsell to clients looking for added privacy and luxury.
Following on the heels of Meliá Braco Village will be the 313-room INNSIDE Nomad in Manhattan, New York City. The January 2016 opening will mark the North American debut of INNSIDE, a brand Cresta says is perfect for business travellers. INNSIDE Nomad is a new-build 20-storey property situated in the heart of New York City’s fashion district, directly in front of Macy’s department store.
Also opening in January is ME Miami, an ultra-luxe 202-room hotel that took over the space of a former condominium. According to Cresta, a Miami opening made perfect sense since “the vibe of the city speaks to the vibe of the brand.”
Finally, the ME brand will make its debut in the Middle East with the opening of ME Dubai in May/June 2016. This new-build property, upon completion, will find an ideal niche in the Dubai market as both the city and the hotel brand cater to urban travellers.
Meliá Hotels International is comprised of several hotel brands, including the ultra-luxe Gran Meliá, ME by Meliá and Paradisus Resorts, and the upscale Meliá Hotels & Resorts and INNSIDE by Meliá. Its loyalty program, Meliá PRO, gives travel agents the chance to earn points and commissions of up to 16% on resort hotels (12% on city hotels) when booked directly through the hotel.
