Connaissance Travel offers 70th anniversary ‘Remembering D-Day in Normandy’TORONTO — June 6, 2014 marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy.

To commemorate the event Connaissance Travel and Tours is offering a D-Day 70th anniversary itinerary ‘Remembering D-Day in Normandy’.

The journey begins with a departure from Canada on May 30, 2014.

Retracing the courageous paths of Canadian troops during operation Overlord, the journey will take clients to Bernieres-sur-Mer where they will attend the official D-Day ceremony on June 6, walking on the footsteps of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada with expert guided tours of Juno Beach, other notable sites and pay tribute to the soldiers at Bény-sur-Mer’s Canadian cemetery.

The tour will also be a discovery of the Normandy region with its historical, cultural and natural treasures. From Paris to Honfleur, the travellers will embark on a 7- day cruise and meander on the river Seine, visiting numerous landmarks such as Claude Monet’s house and its famous Lily Garden in Giverny.

The journey will end with a visit of the spectacular world heritage site of Mont St. Michel as well as Jacques Cartier’s hometown of St Malo.
