Germany’s Federal Statistical Office registered 8.95 million overnight stays by foreign visitors in accommodations with 10 or more beds in January and February. Compared to the same two months of last year, this amounts to 522,000 additional overnights, an increase of 6.2%. Canadian January-to-February travel numbers to Germany bode well for 2015, recording an increase of 3.4% over the same two months in 2014. Says Antje Splettstoesser, Director Marketing and Sales for the German National Tourist Office in Canada, “Looking at February alone, we see an increase of 10.9%. Given that the overseas travel season has only just begun, we are confident the coming months will see continued growth from Canada for Destination Germany”.
