TORONTO — The Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO) President & CEO Michael Pepper has decided to retire in July 2014.

Pepper has led the organization since its inception in 1997. He played a critical role in establishing the administrative authority. He was instrumental in bringing in financial and educational standards for the industry and has been committed to realizing the vision of a fair, safe and informed marketplace where consumers can be confident in their travel purchases.

The board of directors will be commencing the process to choose Pepper’s successor and will consider internal and external candidates for the job.

“It has been a difficult decision for me,” says Pepper. “I have enjoyed my time at TICO and am proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the years. I will miss the daily interaction with my colleagues and associates in the industry. However, I feel that it is time to move on and enjoy the next phase of my life spending time with family and friends and, of course, travelling.”

“It has been a privilege to work with Michael over the years and the board is grateful for his innumerable contributions,” said Michael Janigan, TICO Board Chair. “Michael has provided strong leadership to the organization and the Selection Committee has some big shoes to fill in finding his successor.”
