Dominican Republic eliminates mandatory PCR testing for Canadians

D.R. extends passport validity measure for select countries including Canada

SANTO DOMINGO — The Dominican Republic has once again extended passport validity for certain nationalities, including Canadians.

Originally announced in December 2023 with an expiration date of May 31, 2024, the measures have been periodically updated and are now valid until Nov. 30, 2025.

Under the regulations, visitors from the EU, UK, Canada, U.S., Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador can enter the D.R. using their current passports, which must remain valid throughout their stay and departure from the country. The measure aims to boost tourism by eliminating the previous requirement of passports having at least six months’ validity upon entry.
