KISSIMMEE — Under sunny skies and balmy weather, a record 133 players gathered at the sixth annual Kissimmee Golf Classic, hitting the links for charity.
Held last month at the Disney town of Celebration, the tournament took place at the Celebration Golf Club, a course ranked among the country’s top 25 family golf courses.
It set the stage for a truly successful event attended by Experience Kissimmee partners and members of Osceola County, who showed strong community support.
This year’s notable highlight was Team Canada’s participation, who brought their A-game to the course and were represented by Elvi Cal with Travel Brands, Air Canada’s Audrey Tanguay Beaudette, Annie Cicvaric with Travelweek and Denise Graham, Account Director, Experience Kissimmee – Canada.
“As the #1 international market to Kissimmee, it was a proud moment to have ‘Team Canada’ shine at the Kissimmee Cares Annual Golf Classic,” said Graham.
The event, a testament to the shared commitment and community spirit, provided a relaxed setting for players and sponsors to mix and mingle. It kicked off with a hearty breakfast, followed by a morning round of golf and lunch.
The day was not just about golf. It was also a celebration of community spirit, with specialty hole prizes and numerous raffle prizes, including gift baskets, attraction tickets and vacation homestays, all generously donated by the local community business partners.
“Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable event that not only provided networking opportunities but also for giving back to the Osceola community,” said Graham. “The chance to connect with our partners and invest in relationships within and outside the office environment truly contributes to our success.”
The tournament ended with a few words from DT Minich, Experience Kissimmee’s president and CEO, who expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the partners and sponsors for their invaluable support and participation.
OSCEOLA COMMUNITY GIVES BACK
The Kissimmee Cares Committee, an Experience Kissimmee charity support program, offers non-profit organizations meeting specific criteria the opportunity for consideration each year.
The recipient of this year’s tournament was The Opportunity Center (TOC).
Established over 53 years ago, TOC has been providing services to adults with developmental disabilities at their Kissimmee Adult Day Training program.
The program offers employment placement, training, and community integration for adults with disabilities. It also allows individuals to volunteer in different areas and give back to the community with programs such as Meals on Wheels.
Total fundraising numbers will be available and announced at Experience Kissimmee’s destination update event later this month, including a big cheque presentation to The Opportunity Center.
