One Aldwych in London offers a unique hospitality experience through its Curator Program, where guests can engage with local culture and history in a personalized way. This program features a team of specialists who provide private access to a variety of cultural experiences, allowing guests to explore London’s rich tapestry in fields ranging from history and theatre to art. These curators not only offer expert knowledge but also facilitate exclusive activities tailored to guests’ interests, making each stay at the hotel a distinctive and memorable encounter with the city’s vibrant cultural scene.

One of the hotel’s curators, Charles Burns, is a prominent silhouette artist based in the UK, renowned for revitalizing the traditional English art of silhouette cutting. Starting his career as a street artist in Covent Garden, he uniquely taught himself the craft when he noticed a gap in this artistic niche. Today, Burns is celebrated for his work at high-profile events, having created portraits for figures including the late Queen Elizabeth II. He offers guests private guided tours along the Strand in London, exploring the rich history of silhouettes.

“I can tell you a lot about the neighborhood because it’s just around the corner from Covent Garden, which is where I went after college to do portraits of tourists, which I did every weekend for many years,” says Burns. “And so this area is very important to my personal history, because it’s where I first was able to earn a living as an artist. And so when One Aldwych approached me to be part of the Curator Program, it was a natural fit for me since I have such a passion for the area, as well as art.”
