TORONTO — Travellers at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) are experiencing headaches for a second straight morning following a security issue that’s impacting U.S.-bound flights.
On Nov. 10 at 7:18 a.m., airport officials wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “There is a non-urgent security issue causing longer than usual wait times at T1 security.”
Shortly after, the airport confirmed that “the security issue has been resolved, and normal operations will resume shortly.”
As reported by CityNews, travellers experienced delays of up to 90 minutes, with some claiming the issue forced U.S. customs in Terminal 1 to temporarily stop processing passengers.
Domestic and international flights at Terminal 1, and all Terminal 3 gates remain unaffected, said the airport.
Travellers are encouraged to check their flight status at https://www.torontopearson.com/en/departures.
This marks the second morning that U.S- bound passengers experienced major delays at Toronto Pearson, reports CityNews. On Thursday morning, the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) confirmed that a ground handler contracted to an airline mistakenly directed passengers arriving on a domestic flight to an area designated for screened travellers.
The security issue has been resolved, and normal operations will resume shortly. As always, please check the status of your flight before coming to the airport: https://t.co/b2onT4RS3b https://t.co/QywDxAd1Ke
