MARKHAM — ATA, a distribution channel of travel technology, support and products for multi-ethnic travel agencies across North America, recently hosted ‘A Night of Excellence – Eastern Canada’ at Dragon Legend in Markham.
Nearly 200 ATA travel agent members were in attendance, as were representatives from Sunwing Vacations, Air Canada Vacations, Canada Jetlines, The Special Travel and Cathay Pacific.
This year’s event highlighted Jamaica as a spotlight destination this winter. In attendance were delegates from the Jamaica Tourist Board as well as Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, who shared his “ambitious but achievable” target of 500,000 visitors to Jamaica from Canada by 2025.
The second leg of ATA’s ‘A Night of Excellence’ tour will take place at the Shangri-La Vancouver on Nov. 9.
Started by Canadian brothers President Allan Sum and Executive VP Kenneth Sum, ATA works with ethnic Chinese, Southeast Asian and Persian travel agency communities to enhance their travel technology. It provides IT products, services and an array of B2B and B2C booking engines for its travel agency members who wish to focus on online sales but don’t want to concern themselves with the complexities that selling online can often demand.
Founded in 2004, ATA is a premier partner of Amadeus, and acts as a distribution channel of travel technology, support and products for Amadeus GDS to multi-ethnic travel agencies across North America. ATA members have access to its support desk with toll-free phone numbers that are available in Mandarin, Catonese, Hindi, Urdu and English.
