Air Canada seeks higher yield bookings from agents, drops 7% on Tango

MONTREAL — It used to be a given that airlines got higher yield bookings from travel agents than direct online purchases by consumers.

But Air Canada says agents are selling too many low-yield products and is eliminating the 7% on Tango fares but paying 4% for Flex and more expensive bookings made through the GDS.

In addition, more money is being put into the Accolades program for agents who make higher-yield bookings.
