TORONTO — Following an extremely successful start to the 2014/2015 winter season, Sunwing Vacations is increasing its flight service over the summer months to offer residents of Calgary a number of new connections to sun destinations.
For summer 2015, the airline will be offering two new direct flights to Cuba. Vacationers will be able to take advantage of a weekly service to Cayo Coco, Cuba departing each Wednesday along with a Thursday flight to Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba. This increase in scheduling is an addition to the regular Tuesday service to Varadero, Cuba that operated last summer.
Options to explore Mexico over the summer months direct from Calgary have also been increased, with direct weekly flights to Los Cabos being introduced to complement the existing weekly services to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. In addition, the weekly flight to Grand Bahama that commenced for the first time in November 2014 will be maintained to run throughout the summer months.
The airport will also continue to benefit from a direct flight service to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Andrew Dawson, Chief Operating Officer for the Sunwing Travel Group, commented, “Our flights from Calgary this winter have been extremely well received and we are delighted to be able to extend our summer programming to maintain some of the most popular routes all year.”
The new summer Cancun service will allow vacationers to be among the first travellers to enjoy a summer break at two resorts exclusive to Sunwing that opened just before Christmas.
Part of Sunwing’s exclusive Family and Luxury Collections, the Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa boasts 843 luxurious rooms and suites and combines a privileged beachfront location with an array of activities to suit all ages. Children will experience appearances by such characters as Mike the Knight and Max & Ruby, and parents will appreciate the supervised daily activities at the ‘ClubHouse’ Kids Club and ‘Hangout’ Teens Club.
For adults, the resort lights up at night with live entertainment shows, a disco featuring the house DJ, and all of the popular games at the on-site sports pub.
The property features nine restaurants as well as 12 distinctly-themed bars, including a discotheque and two Diamond Club member only venues.
Dubbed a ‘resort within a resort’ the stylish adult only 340-room Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun is a tranquil boutique resort that caters to guests over 18 years of age.
