Adventure travel shows no signs of slowing down in 2023, at least for Exodus Travels. In this week’s Take Five, we sit down with Katy Rockett, Director of Growth, North America to discuss new trends to watch out for, what’s selling and which destinations to book right now.

What’s your forecast for 2023?

“2023 has started out really strong for us and we’re already exceeding 2019 sales volumes. We’ve come so far from where we were as an industry a year ago and it has been so uplifting to see so many people confidently booking travel and feeling optimistic about the year ahead.”

What are you most excited about in 2023?

“The continued growth in popularity of active adventure travel. What started out as a post-pandemic trend has turned into a long-term shift in demand for travel experiences that are rich in experience and provide ample opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Our small group cycling and walking adventures have seen continued growth as they offer the perfect mix of activity, cultural immersion and exploration of natural landscapes.”

Are there any other travel trends you’ve seen coming out of the pandemic?

“People have a new appreciation that the privilege of travel is not to be taken for granted and they’re looking to get the most out of their vacation days and willing to spend more to do it. We launched our Premium Adventures nearly one year ago and the demand for them has really taken off. These trips offer all the quality of our standard small group adventures with added extras of unique, premium accommodations, exceptional included experiences and award-winning leaders.”

How has your relationship with travel agents changed/strengthened as a result of the pandemic?

“There has definitely been a change in landscape within the travel industry, however as we’ve come out of it our relationships with travel agents are stronger than ever. Now that travel is back in full swing, we have lots of agent FAMs planned in 2023, brand new incentives and added benefits for our loyal partners in our Agent Collective.”

What’s one destination that everyone should keep on their radars in 2023?

“Jordan has really emerged as one of the most sought-after destinations this year. We offer a wide variety of adventure experiences, including a week long cultural exploration trip, our 9-day Petra & Wadi Rum by bike, and our hugely popular Kingdoms of Jordan Premium Adventure.”
