TORONTO – About 121,000 people are expected to move through Pearson International Airport today, making it the busiest travel day of the year.

Nearly two million passengers will travel through the Toronto-area airport during the three-week period surrounding Christmas.

Travellers are reminded to give themselves plenty of time to deal with longer lineups and to keep any gifts unwrapped to minimize delays at security.

Pearson officials say passengers should arrive at the airport two hours early, even if they are flying domestically.

WestJet and Air Canada both implemented fees for the first checked baggage item earlier this year and passengers are reminded to be aware of restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols when packing their carry-on bags.

Travellers are also being advised to check their flights on the airport’s website in case of any delays but so far the majority of departures are on time.
