EDMONTON — Flair Airlines is flying high following the launch of two new sun destinations this past weekend.

Weekly service to Cancun International Airport from Kitchener-Waterloo and Ottawa, and Los Cabos International Airport from Abbotsford, Edmonton and Vancouver are now officially up and running, with one-way fares starting at $109. The ultra-low-cost carrier first announced the routes back in November.

“Expanding to Mexico is part of Flair’s exciting growth strategy and we’re very happy to be launching service there,” said Garth Lund, Chief Commercial Officer. “Canadians are tired of the ice and snow and our affordable fares will help make it possible to take a trip.”

Chief Executive Officer Stephen Jones added that service to Mexico could not have come at a better time: “We deployed a proprietary algorithm to determine that Canadians want to escape the cold right now!”

According to Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director for the Los Cabos Tourism Board, the destination continues to see growth and interest from Canadian airlines.

“Canada continues to be one of our priority markets and with multiple new flights it’s easier than ever to travel to Los Cabos,” he said. “With multiple certifications and strict protocols in place, Los Cabos has and continues to be a safe and attractive destination for those that choose to travel abroad.”
