Canada Jetlines signs lease for its first A320

TORONTO — Canada Jetlines has signed a definitive lease agreement for its first Airbus A320 aircraft.

Delivery is expected by February 2022.

Says Canada Jetlines CEO, Eddy Doyle: “I am pleased that we have a definitive agreement for our first aircraft. The Airbus A320 is a fuel-efficient, narrow-body framework that supports a high-density seat configuration. Canada Jetlines is well positioned to carry out the completion our airline licensing process with a targeted launch date in Q2 of 2022.”

Prior to delivery, the aircraft will be painted with Canada Jetlines livery and include installation of the new Recaro 3530 seats, with in-seat power and personal electronic device holder installed. The airline will also install the Flymingo Box inflight entertainment system.

As reported at Travelweek.ca on Dec. 10, Canada Jetlines is aiming to operate its first revenue flight in Q2 2022, and wants to introduce flights from Toronto to the U.S., Mexico, Caribbean and Canadian destinations throughout 2022. Three more aircraft are expected in July 2022, another seven in June 2023, 12 in June 2024 and 15 in June 2025. All will be A320s.

The start-up carrier’s executive team has made it clear they want to work with travel agents, and earlier this fall signed an agreement with Softvoyage. “We want to be on as many shelves as possible. Whatever the preferred way is that the consumer wants to look and book, we will be there,” said Canada Jetlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Duncan Bureau.
