TORONTO — One well-known industry veteran is succeeding another with the handing of the baton at Discover the World Canada.
Joanne Lundy, who has headed up Discover the World Canada as Director for 28 years, is retiring from the position this month.
Taking over the reins as the new Director is Jane Clementino, who comes to Discover the World Canada from WestJet and WestJet Vacations where she was Global Director of Indirect Sales. In that role she was instrumental in growing sales revenues 35%+ within a 5-year period. Before that she was VP, Client Consulting Services and Sales for Navigant / CWT Canada. Her 30 years of experience in the travel industry, in aviation, corporate travel management, and retail travel, have given her extensive knowledge of the travel marketplace, distribution channels, and supplier relations.
Lundy is retiring as Director, however she says she will continue to be involved on a part-time project basis. In her 28 years with the company Lundy developed and led the Canada team for Discover the World, working with a range of clients that has included almost every travel sector.
Says Lundy: “Working with Discover all of these years has been an amazing experience, from the great friendships to the sense of accomplishment in what we have achieved. Discover is poised to move forward strongly as travel rebounds, and has an exciting future ahead. I am incredibly grateful to the team of wonderful people I have worked with in Canada and in the entire Discover network, as well as the companies we have been honoured to represent, and the great travel professionals in Canada whose support is invaluable.”
Discover the World’s network as a global sales representation leader includes 85 offices in more than 60 countries. The company has a portfolio of 100+ clients, including Sata Azores Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Condor, Caesars Entertainment, Loews Hotel Group, Europcar, Expedia TAAP, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line and more.
Taking over from Lundy, Clementino says: “I am really excited to work with the team on the
broad range of travel companies Discover represents including airlines, hotels, cruise, car rental, destinations, and technology. It’s an opportunity to work with an exciting group of international brands, introduce new companies to the travel trade in Canada, and help Canadian brands have effective representation in global markets.”
